Day Thirty Three… A Night’s Stay at Woodford State Park… 06/12/15

I woke up today and learned how to make a #BloodKnot on my #FlyFishing reel… I was definitely leaving #StrattonGreenMountains and #WestWardsboro today… I haven’t done any laundry since I started this #trip from #Boston and I had two bags full. I wanted to make sure I did something creative today just in case it turns out to be one of those days…

Yes, I went out and bagged all of the trash… It was obviously a family, which makes this crime even worse because you know they had transportation and the needed tools to take their crap with them… And when I say crap, I mean it literally because I found dirty diapers amongst the debacle… Completely disgusting! Shame on this family! I had to pull 3 bags of their stinky trash into #TheMillenniumFalcon and let me tell you, she was not happy with the ordeal… If people thought just a little bit about each other, just a little, this world would be much better off…

This family is a prime example of how simplistic we think… If this trash threatened their family’s safety, you better bet they would remove it but since it doesn’t affect them, screw everyone else… It’s our own circle of friends and family that only matter… Since we don’t know you, it doesn’t matter what a decent set of human beings you may be, we don’t care… The irony of it all is it really does affect everyone in the long run but try explaining that to these self centered morons…

Reminds me of a “Tales From the Dark Side” episode I saw when I was young… A man comes to this poor couples’ house carrying a box with one button. He tells them he will give them a million dollars if they pressed the button but someone they don’t know would die… After contemplating doing such the whole episode, the couple decides to press the button… The man said their million dollars is on it’s way but in the meantime he is going to another couple who doesn’t know them and offering them the same deal… Essentially putting this couples’ lives in the hands of strangers like what was just done to them…I love this episode because it says so much about us as humans… We don’t value ones we don’t know when they are probably just like us… Just as good as us, have hopes like us, have families like us but out of sight, out of mind, right? Talk about tunnel vision…

So I left the most expensive campsite I have occupied… The tow truck driver told me that they always have emergency rescues in the area where I was stuck… I guess some of these #AppalachianTrail hikers get into trouble… With the weather I have witnessed so far, I can see why…

I stopped at this cute little market in #Wilmington,Vermont to pick up some fresh fruits and vegetables… I asked the clerk if there was a Starbucks or somewhere where I could get a good internet connection… She informed me that they don’t let Corporate giants in their town and most of Vermont… I was so pleased to hear this… She told me they put a RiteAid in a town a few miles from here and it was a huge controversy… I think I have found one state I want to move to… but I have to experience this whole country before I make such huge decisions… But Vermont and this town are definitely a candidate… Too bad most of the rest of the country will be under Corporate control so it’s not going to make much difference in the long run…

I found a place to dump at #TheWoodfordStatePark… I have an #app that locates all the #RVdumps in your immediate area… I call first of course because the app has been quite unreliable in the past but it’s still a great source when you are out in the middle of nowhere…

IMG 2561IMG 2562IMG 2563IMG 2564

#WoodfordStatePark was really well run and put together… Plus they charged $15 to dump… If you are a resident of #Vermont, you pay next to nothing to stay here… I asked the nice lady how much it would cost for me to stay… She told me $20 and it included dumping… It was a no brainer for me considering I was already paying $15… For only $5 more I had a place to stay… So, now I could go do my shopping and chores without having to worry about finding my next place to #camp… This day was really shaping out…

IMG 2565IMG 2569IMG 2570IMG 2571

So I headed for the town of #Bennington,Vermont which was only 10 miles away…

IMG 2572

I soon found a little #LaundryShack where the lady offered to wash and fold my laundry for $30… Now I had two big bags of laundry so I just couldn’t pass up that deal… It also allowed me to find a spot to load my #blog and get some groceries…

IMG 2574

While at the grocery store, a #bird got trapped inside… I couldn’t resist taking a picture… That blur is the bird flying… lol.

I bought some groceries, #TheMillenniumFalcon was clean, emptied and fully stocked… Now it was time to upload the blog and check my e-mail… Well, I wish I didn’t check my e-mail because #Sprint reared it’s ugly #Corporate head once again, saying I owe $163 when I closed my account about 2 months ago… I had to spend three hours on the phone cleaning up this mess… I’m not making this shit up folks… See how they absorb all of my time and I am not even a customer anymore…

After telling agent after agent I didn’t owe it, one agent finally found the documentation that proved that I was right, once again… But I had to give up 3 more hours of my time to get this cleared up and this is the 4th time I have had to make them go into their files and show they were wrong… I’m glad they are getting paid for this shit because I am not!

Really, I don’t know what to do at this point… All I can say is they have made a huge enemy out of me and I will make sure I tell everyone I know not to use them… That’s all I can do… I could try getting a lawyer but what will that do? It borders on the grounds of harassment but this is what we signed up for folks and we just keep on giving them more and more money just so they can treat us worse…

So, I finally made it back to camp with fresh folded laundry, cabinets full of food and a fully refreshed #Falcon… As soon as I got back we were hit with a huge #ThunderStorm… I turned on my A.C. and all of my electric blew… So I had to go out in the #storm and investigate… I checked all of the fuses and couldn’t seem to find the problem… I thought that this was going to a major problem until I checked the actual generator and found a main 30 amp switch… I figured I would give it a switch off and on and what do you know, it was some kind of a breaker or something… I was so relieved… I just couldn’t take another problem this soon…

It was midnight by the time all of this was over and I was exhausted… I put on some “Twilight Zone” and went to bed… Unfortunately I was woken up with a dog barking at 2 and 3 a.m… I was thinking of staying another night but got the hint not too… Onto the next #campsite folks and I will see you tomorrow…

Tell the Traveling Mac what you think... be nice now...
