It was a very good day today folks… You will be happy to know, no one bothered me last #night or in the #morning… When I got up, I put a fresh pot of coffee on and was ready to do some #exploring… I may as well get something out of this bumpy, rough, long ride out here to #LakeGeorge in #NewYork…
I headed down this beautiful #trail which, only after walking a half a mile, I stumbled upon this beauty…
I couldn’t believe how enormous yet #peaceful this #lake was… I just figured out how to do a #panoramic shot on my iPhone, so expect a lot of these in the future… That’s just the tip of the iceberg compared to what I discovered today!
I know a lot of people visit #LakeGeorge,FortAnn because it even had a #volleyball net… It was also fully equipped with a portapoty and #FirePits… Too bad they don’t let such #overnight #camping… I’m guessing a day camp comes down here and they just may stay overnight…
Without even a second thought, I hurried back to get my #FishingRod… I could leave a little later and maybe I would be bringing dinner along with me… I couldn’t resist taking a picture of this #gaggle of #geese… It was the Mom and Pops with three chickies… So cute but they weren’t too thrilled by my presence… I felt bad making them rush off into the #water but hey, I have some #fishing to do here…
Now, you may think I’m crazy but this fallen #tree #branch held up by a #PineTree looked like #nature’s art to me… It looked even more remarkable in person, so I had to share…
I grabbed some #tackle and my #FishingRod and hurried back… But as soon as I cast the line in the water, it started to #rain and it was coming down pretty hard… I couldn’t help but look up at the sky and say “WTF!” This day was already turning out to be a right pain in the ass… I decided to get the hell out of here before it got any worse… Obviously I was not welcome at #LakeGeorge for some #cosmic reason…
So I high tailed it out of there, never looking back… I can take a hint folks…
These #signs were posted everywhere telling you it was #PrivateProperty and you can’t camp, fish, park and so on… This had to be one of the most uninviting #StateParks I have ever visited… But there were a lot of people living in the area so I could somewhat understand, especially when I see all the garbage the inconsiderate #campers leave behind… Once again, if we all looked out for each other such restrictions wouldn’t have to be put in place… Will we ever learn?
Honestly, I was happy to be out of there… Too many rules and regulations… My head was spinning… I soon stumbled upon this truck and #RV mechanic shop… I figured why not stop in and ask about that #inverter… Well, I was glad I did because the #mechanic inside gave me all the information I wanted plus more… He informed me that I could buy an inverter for around $100, hook it up to my #MarineBattery (which gives my accessories all the power needed) and then I would have hours of #120VoltElectricity without having to turn on that noisy #generator… I was so excited and am in debt to that mechanic… I thanked him profusely and hit the #road…
On top of that, this #Co-PilotApp I bought is unbelievable! It even recognizes my vehicle as a RV, so it avoids any small #bridges and rough roads… It also lets you know all the stores in your immediate area… I was eating up all of my data roaming using that #AppleMaps and it had all kinds of glitches… I still use the AppleMaps for small things to cross reference the co-pilot but if you travel at all, I highly suggest this app… It’s only $10 and it’s 100 times worth its value… It has definitely already made this trip a lot easier… I would get the #app even if I wasn’t a traveler… Whenever you need to know where something is, this app will help you and doesn’t need #CellService..
Above I passed this huge damn going into #Saratoga,NY…. I think co-pilot also gives you the more #ScenicRoutes considering it knows you are in a RV….
It took me through #SaratogaCenter…
and then led me to cut through the #SaratogaSpaStatePark… Holy crap how small do you feel amongst these giants… What a fulfilling #drive… I had to be careful taking pictures though because I passed 3 cops going through this area… I saw a man jogging and thought to myself he must look forward to making this run everyday… I know I would!
Then I guess co-pilot wanted to show me the less advantaged in life by guiding me through #Schenectady,NY… When you start seeing a lot of dirty white tank tops (also known as wife beaters,) you know to stay in your vehicle… Thank you co-pilot… If you keep this up, I just may name you… Don’t get your hopes up though, I usually don’t make it a practice to name #DigitalTechnology but you could definitely be the first…
So, I figured, on my way to #BowmanLakeStatePark, which was my next #destination, I would stop into an #AutoPartsStore and pick up one of those inverters… Actually, I couldn’t stop thinking about it… You don’t know how much I waste on generator #gas… Not only was I excited about the money I would save but this #conserving of everything is really fun… Everyone should try it but you have to be in a situation where it’s crucial to save these #resources… You just have too many things going on in regular life to realize the waste… I know after this #trip I will have picked up a lot of #GoodHabits that will be hard to ignore after relying on them for a year…
I stumbled upon an #AdvancedAutoParts near #Duanesburg,NY… The guys in there were very helpful after they got over the fact I had a Red Sox hat on… I have to remember I am in #NY… One guy warned me about my hat… I soon put that baby to bed by telling him how I was in #NYC in #2004 for the great upset in the ALCS… I wore my colors with pride then, do you really think I am going to worry about it now? lol…
One of the guys sold me a #2000WattInverter for $159… It is more than enough for my devices and it will pay itself off in a matter of weeks…
I just couldn’t wait to try it out, so I planned on staying at a #Walmart near my destination and take a hour to set this thing up in the Advanced Auto Parts parking lot… Then if anything goes wrong, I can just go right back inside and return it… I had to amount it right near the battery and then run a cord above my engine, with the other cords, into the cab of #TheMillenniumFalcon… I’m a little concerned that it will get wet, which the directions prohibited, but why would it have such a short set of cords to connect to the #battery? I may buy a cover for it if it becomes an issue…
Well, it took me about an hour to install and I was back on the road… As you can see from the beautiful pictures above, the #sun was setting, so I found a Walmart 10 miles away from my #campsite to stay for the night…
I ate some #AmericanChopChili leftovers and popped on some #TwilgihtZone and went to bed… But something was different folks, a lot different… I didn’t have to fire up that noisy generator… Nope… While I was driving, #TheMillenniumFalcon was charging up her #MarineBattery so my inverter did all the #electrical work tonight… It was a little noisy out, with traffic and what not, so when I woke up I would just put on another episode to drown out the noise… I did this all night and the #battery didn’t die… Success folks!
You don’t know how much #money this #device is going to save me! I am so glad I stumbled upon that guy at the Truck Mechanic”s Shop… I wish I got his name because he changed this trip drastically.. Thank you sir and Goodnight…
