So I woke up to more #rain folks… I decided to get the hell out of there… If it was nice out, I would have stayed one more #night but It was time to #dump and #refill #TheMillenniumFalcon… Why not use a #RainyDay to do such chores…
I tried something different this time… I used the little water I had left and cleaned all the dishes, the bathroom and the shower… I usually do this at the #dumpsite where I enjoy unlimited water but you really have to rush fearing someone may come and wait behind you…
I used almost every last drop of water but got everything done… I didn’t get a good rinse on the shower but I could do that quickly when I hook up to water at the dumpsite… This was a much better, less stressful method than the one I was using… I got to clean while listening to music and didn’t feel rushed… Everything is really starting to come together now… By the end of this month, I will be a well #seasoned #traveler…
#TheTravelingMac hit the road in search for a dumpsite… I had absolutely no #CellPhoneService out here so my dump #app was not working… So I had to use my trusty #co-pilot app to guide me towards my next #campsite in #Sundown,NY… Then when I stumbled upon a good service area I could search the app for a dumpsite near me and my #destination…
I called one of my friends from #Manhattan,NY and he thinks he can get me some parking near his house for free… So I won’t have to pay that $80 a night and I can stay longer also… This would keep me from #HookingUp at the #EllisIsland site, keeping my record going… I plan on arriving in #NYC Saturday afternoon… Then I will probably leave Tuesday…
Now I got really excited when I called up a campsite called #MongaupPondPublicCampground… The guy on the phone informed me that it was only $8 to dump and you get a pass for the day… Well, I interpreted this as $8 to dump and stay the night… I was so excited! What a bargain! Most sites charge you at least $15 to just dump, never mind stay also…
It was a little out of my way but worth the money… I had to use my #AppleMaps, which I hate, because my co-pilot couldn’t find this campsite for some reason… I soon realized it was 15 minutes into the #wilderness with no service what so ever… This place was in the #boondocks…
It started #raining once again… there were warnings of sever #thunderstorms all over #NewYork… The announcers warned people to seek #shelter or pull over to the side of the road if they see #DarkClouds… These poor people out here must be so tired of this #weather… I really do feel bad for them… They need a good month of a total, constant #HeatWave… I’m wishing it for you #EastCoast…
Regardless of how far out in the wilderness #MongaupPond was, it was one of the cleanest and most organized campgrounds I have seen… I was disappointed when I went to pay to find out the $8 includes a day pass but no #overnight… To stay it cost out of town residents like $30… I wasn’t paying that…
So, I made my way over to the dumpsite… It was so well put together…. The dump area was clean and smelled normal… They had a water hose that stretched to your vehicle that was far from the dump, very important… They had a #recycling area and #dumpsters to throw your trash in…
Best $8 I have ever spent! If they were more reasonable with their #camping prices I would definitely stay the night… I wanted to use my day pass and #explore but I needed to get #FreshFruits and #vegetables for the #NutriBullet, upload my #blog at #McDonald’s and get over to the new campsite… Considering how far out I had to drive, I wasn’t taking any chances getting caught in one of those thunder storms… So I moved on…
After getting some groceries from a little organic store and quickly uploading my blog, I was on my way to #TheCatskillStatePark in #Sundown… The drive was gorgeous! New York is truly a beautiful state… I can’t wait to see these #NewEngland states when I come back in the #fall… These #NationalForests have to look unbelievable during the #season…
The #drive was longer than anticipated and I couldn’t find the damn campsite… I saw a lot of #deer on the way… Here’s one above running away as I approached and another just staring at me as I passed by…
The #roads were so narrow and rough… They were very steep at points and so narrow I had to be careful of oncoming traffic as I went around sharp, narrow turns…
Now, I think this was the campsite that I passed… The #website said it was hard to locate and was hidden like this one… The problem was I couldn’t turn around anywhere and circle back…
I was trapped on these narrow roads with occasional pull offs but nothing wide enough to turn around this big #BucketOfBolts… I just kept on #driving for miles…
Then it started to get #dark and the rain was beginning once again… I decided then it was too dangerous to continue on… I would pull off at the next turn off or anything that can fit the #Falcon… I would stay there the night and if anyone complained, I would explain my situation…
Well, I got really lucky folks because there was this nice little #tourist parking lot to park your vehicle and go #hiking or #fishing… It fit my vehicle easily and it was set back, off the road… It was about 9:30 at this point and I was starving… I took a #NavyShower, ate and went to bed… Tomorrow I will go back and find that campsite… Hopefully I can stay there until Friday then I will head over to #Manhattan,NY…
