So, I woke up to a very nice #day… It #rained all last night but the #clouds cleared for the #morning… I figured I would #explore around my #backyard…
No wonder I have been #sleeping so well with this huge #stream about 20 feet from #TheMillenniumFalcon…
This place is a gem folks… I highly recommend coming here and #camping… It has amazing swimming holes and the streams are so #CrystalClear…
The #energy around here is so vibrant yet soothing… The #birds are always #chirping and #singing… #Butterflies are everywhere, #flying around you and landing along your #path, as if some #fairy is scattering #magic as you walk… I am truly impressed… I wish I could stay a lot longer…
If you look close at the picture above to your right, you will see a little critter hanging out on one of the #roots…
I moved as close as I could… He hid behind one of the #branches and then retreated into a hole in the base of the #tree… He gave a high pitch squeak as I got too close… I took the hint…
What is with the random single shoe I keep on running into… There are a lot of people in #America walking around with one shoe… What, do they just forget them? I always find them in the most oddest of places… Like on the side of the #road, hanging from a #tree or way out in the #woods… Hold onto your shoes folks… wow!
I was soon back at #Nature’sMecca… Well, that’s what it is to me anyways… I will definitely be back to visit this #CampingSpot again in the #fall… Such a #MagicalPlace…
I saw someone was #camped across the stream… I noticed that my area only had #campsites 2 through 5… There must have been more across the way… I would go explore that later…
Unfortunately I had some repair work to do on #TheBucketOfBolts… The #boat had sprung a leak and you don’t want any leaks in your #RV… they will just get worse if you don’t nip them in the butt right away…
I could see some water damage at the top of the window… It would stream from the top and channel through the window groove and run down the base of my window and eventually down my wall…
But #TheTravelingMac had the perfect #tool to fix just that… I went outside and opened one of the #Falcon’s many compartments, where I kept all of my tools… It’s not very neat but does the job… I grabbed from there my trusty #CaulkingGun…
Now as effective as #caulking is, I hate dealing with it… It’s so messy and such a pain in the ass… I hate #caulk… well, except for my own that is…
I ran a nice bead of caulk (haha, he said caulk…) along the top of the window on the outside and the inside… I figured I would see what this does, if it helps any… If it doesn’t then I will move onto the next step… I’m sure I won’t have to wait for it to be tested out here… The #WeatherForecast for this #weekend is surprisingly more #rain… Well, at least It serves me some sort of a purpose now… The poor Millennium Falcon went from 19 years of #DryDesert #weather to this #wet mess… I’m sure she’s going to spring a leak here and there… She isn’t #Noah’sArc, you know…
While I was at it and since I was so pleased with the new #inverter I bought, I decided to permanently install the #ExtensionCords I use for plugging my #EntertainmentSystem into my new #energy source… It’s dangerous having three extension cords just laying around, being stepped on… Especially considering #120Volts are running through them…
So I tucked the cord under the couch, stapled it along the base of my cabinets with my cord stapler… I also bagged all of the electrical connections so they wouldn’t get wet and finally attached the converter box on the side of my bed… Nice and safe and out of the way…
Also, since I was heading into #Manhattan,NY tomorrow, I went ahead and did the dishes… I am going to be squeezed for time tomorrow… I have to #dump, refill #propane and do laundry before I head my way into #NYC… I am only about two hours away, so I think I can get it all done… I am going out with some old friends of mine tomorrow night… I am very excited because I haven’t seen them for like 4 years, I think… Also one of my good friend’s mother died… He may come #camping with me, just to get away from everything… So we may have another camper with us for a short amount of time…
After a day of chores, I went out to explore some more… I found this #NaturalSpring near my #campsite…They had a pipe with a hose attached to it that came down from a natural spring… I am going to ask one of my #camper neighbors if they know if it’s good for drinking… If it is, I’m filling up my water tank here… Shit, people pay ridiculous amounts of money for such water…
Folks, #PeekamooseValley in #Sundown,NY just keeps on impressing… I found all of these campsites across the stream…
This place is a #haven and it’s free! Without a permit you can stay up to four days… Who knows how long you can stay with a #permit… I just don’t understand why people pay so much to stay at those noisy, expensive #CampingParks… I mean, some are not that bad but most of them are pretty horrible… You are right next to each other most of the time, so if you get a noisy neighbor you are screwed… All because they want to hook up to constant power and water… I just don’t get it… It’s not that difficult living #OffTheGrid…
This place even had it’s own parking lot so you can park while you #camp… My campsite was the only area that allowed #RVs… So #PeekamooseValley essentially has 4 RV camping spots and a lot more #PrimitiveCampsites than that map is showing… So if you want to rough it in a #tent, there’s plenty of room to do it here and a place to park your car…
There are all kinds of #trails, leading to different sites that are all placed along the #river… So all other noises are drowned out…
These #WoodedAreas are gorgeous… You would run into #PineTree areas where the dead needles littered the ground, looking like carpet… Then it would merge into rich green areas, like above…
It was like walking through a #maze, following these trails… Every camp area you would hit, you would have the choice of two trails which would lead you to another campsite or to the river itself…
I wandered for two hours, curious where each #path would lead me and not wanting to miss a single trail… Some campsites were occupied and some were not…
I ran into some #burl again and this time it was on a #DeadTree… But the tree was still standing… trust me, it was dead.. It’s #bark was falling off and it didn’t have a hint of green on it… I tried giving it a shove but this #soul will see a couple of more #winters before she comes down… I want a large piece of burl so bad… I will spend a day sawing if I find a fallen dead tree with a good piece on it…
I ended a busy yet another really good day with the #burning of local souls… I ate the left overs from last night and #cooked two eggs with bacon on the fire… Tomorrow I will be getting up early, showering and then hitting the road… The next time we speak, I will be on my way to #NewYork,NY… Good night…
P.S… I was visited early the next morning by a #ParkRanger… He was checking everyone’s permits and I of course didn’t have one… I apologized up and down… He was so cool about it… He told me all about the area… I let him know I wanted to come back in the fall… He told me to just call Park Ranger #HowardKreft at #845-240-6790 to get a free permit… The only reason they require permits for campers only is because people actually illegally dump their waste on the grounds… Disgusting! Oh how we just don’t give a shit!
So if you are just camping in a tent, you don’t need a permit… You just have to make sure you are in a designated camping area… I was so glad he visited me because I asked him about the spring water… He said if I have a filter, it would be fine… Well, folks, I filter all my water from any source… The filter attaches right to my hose… Fresh, clean, spring water for me! I can’t wait to experience it warm!
