Foks… Disaster has hit! I got up at 3am to move #TheMillenniumFalcon for street cleaning and all the power was out in my house… When I turn on the generator everything works, so now I am definite I have a battery problem… But with this problem another problem has arisen… #TheBucketOfBolts is puttering… As I got it over to a new spot so I could sleep until 8, I had to keep a foot on the gas and the brake… If I didn’t, she would stall… I went back to bed worried and didn’t sleep much…
When I got up, I went to get a cup of coffee because I knew it was going to be one of those days… I shouldn’t have come into the #NewYorkCity… These rough roads have taken a toll on the #Falcon and I couldn’t be in a worse place to have engine problems…
When I got back, I ran the Falcon for a half hour… I figured with these two #MarineBatteries not charging, the alternator was working overtime to generate enough power… Just a theory but after running her for awhile, I was able to let her idle without breaking down… So, I grit my teeth and hit the road…
Every time I hit the gas to propel the missile forward, she would hesitate, putter and then kick in… This was really aggravating because all of the impatient #NewYorkers behind let me know I was going too slow… I don’t blame them… They were probably trying to get to work and here is this massive machine puttering in front of them… If it was me late for work, I would do the same thing…
It was an arduous #journey, to say the least… All I wanted to do is get to #Queens,NY, near my friend and find an #AdvancedAutoParts to replace this battery… Well, just as I was getting close, my #brakes start to fail… With the lack of power, my brakes started to floor out… With a big #RV like mine, you need power to help assist stopping this vehicle… So, when you have power problems your brakes start to fail… I luckily was able to hit my #EmergencyBrake, guide the #MobileHome into a #7/11 parking lot and slam it into park to stop it from hitting another car… I was about a half a foot from a crash…
So, now I knew I was in trouble… I called #AAA right away and they told me they don’t cover RVs in this state… I told the lady to just try to get me help, I really don’t give a shit now… Why do I even have AAA? It’s completely absurd that I have #RoadSideAssistance for an RV designed to travel and I’m not covered in certain areas and states…
She finally got back to me and gave me two options… Either I pay $75 for a guy to come out with a #generator and charge me or a guy will tow me and charge the AAA in #California, so I don’t have to worry about it… Of course I picked the second…
In the meantime, my good friend Louis came out to help me on his #Harley… lol. Thank god he came out because AAA called me and said the tow truck driver wouldn’t be able to get to me for hours… I went into 7/11 and they immediately asked about my RV… I apologized and said I #BrokeDown… the lady told me it was the wrong place to break down… What a bitch! I told her I would be more careful in the future where I break down and to kiss my ass…. I was not in the mood for some asshole to complain about something I couldn’t do shit about… She didn’t like that too much but she shouldn’t be so surprised to get such a response in #NYC…
When Louis arrived he became the brains of the #mission… I was not thinking clearly by this point… I was stressed, sweating like crazy and totally overwhelmed by the whole ordeal… Louis suggested going across the street and getting a #BatteryTest at #AutoZone… I figured why not… So, Louis guided me with #TheMillenniumFalcon behind… By this time I had charged up enough power so my brakes were working again…
When we got to Auto Zone, divinity reared its beautiful head again… I thought my batteries were from Advanced Auto Parts but I had mixed them up with Auto Zone… So, even if I had made it to Advanced Auto Parts, I wouldn’t have been able to get the right battery… You can’t mix and match battery brands or power, so the journey there would have been a huge mistake considering the condition of the Falcon…
Auto Zone didn’t have the battery in stock but the manager sent one of his employees to pick one up for me…. Auto Zone, you have a new customer… They went out of their way to try and help me… And thank you Louis! Without your level headed, calm demeanor, this whole ordeal could have ended up even worse, believe it or not…
So, as I expected, it was the battery… I swapped the bad one, got all the power back to %100 and I was good to go… Or I thought I was… The Falcon was idling on her own, so I headed for a local mechanic to confirm everything was working well… I was not taking any risks at this point…
Well, on my way to the mechanic, she started puttering again… She couldn’t get enough power and would stall… So, just as she was getting impossible to drive, I happened upon a #PepBoys…. I pulled in there and asked if they could look at it… the lady told me their #MasterTechnician would be in tomorrow morning… So I stayed overnight in the Pep Boys parking lot… Hopefully they would at least get me to the actual RV mechanic, which was only 3.3 miles down the road…
I ate two special cookies to make sure I slept… Ate some spaghetti sauce Julie had given me at the last campsite… I was only going to eat half but ended up licking the bowl… I had it with some rice noodles… It had chunks of chicken sausage and venicin… It was amazing! Thank you Julie! It was perfect to be able to heat up your delicious sauce after an impossible day… Made my night much better…
Anyway, I hadn’t had a good nights sleep for days now and it was effecting my thinking, especially in situations like these… So, I was hoping the cookies did the trick… It seemed pretty quiet around here so everything was looking good… I will get up at 8am and try to get to the next spot and get my baby fixed… Till tomorrow folks…
