So, since John isn’t working anymore I have been picking up his shifts and doing doubles. I’m trying to work as much as possible so I can finagle two days off in a row for my #camping up on #MatchlessMountain. I’m glad to be working because it’s a little awkward with John trying to get out of here and the secretiveness of it all… I understand John’s point of view… He just doesn’t want anyone knowing anything, in fear of retaliation from a few people… If you knew the few, you would fear the same… But at the same time the #family is so generous and easy to get along with… I just don’t understand why they get the brunt of it all… You get one bad person in a #work situation and it can destroy your whole work place… In John’s defense, all of this shouldn’t have gone down like this but at the same time, it’s not the family’s fault that #co-workers can’t get along… I will just be happy when it’s all done and over with…
Mike, the douchebag waiter, has tried to rope me into his drama, but I told him straight out I don’t play that game… I’m too old for this shit… I am certainly not going to let some insignificant piss-ant ruin my fun… The idiot is really focused on the #money… I will not discuss or fight over money with other waiters… If you decide to take all of the tables and try to screw me, I will let you… Then when you screw everything up because your eyes got bigger than what you can handle, I will just laugh and continue on with the way I was doing things in the first place…
Life is too short for such petty practices and competition… We are all waiters and are all there to make money… Why can’t we just work together and make a lot of money that way? But once again I am shown a small scale example of how #greed #corrupts and brings out the worse in people… Anyone who has been in my profession knows exactly what I am talking about… As for myself, I like to work with everyone and have fun with everyone… I am mature and smart enough to know I will get the same result without all of the stress and fighting… Another example of how putting people before the #buck serves me so well…
So, I figured I would give you a more specific tour of #TheNuggetCafe, since I am stuck here for the foreseeable future… Here is the entrance… The board behind the front door is where we list our specials… I personally don’t like to post specials because I think it’s so much more intimate to hear it from your waiter…
As you can see they decorated the cafe with all kinds of #MountainDecor… There’s a beautiful #Buck’sHead… That’s what all the #hunters come up for… That’s the big prize… Honestly, if you have seen one dead buck, you have seen them all… Not a fan of the practice but I am a #TreeHuggingLiberal… so what do you expect?
This #SawBlade, which is hung right above the kitchen doors, is the talk of the #restaurant… At first, I found it to be a little tacky for my taste but then I really looked at it and it’s quite impressive… You have two #bears fighting and this other bear looks like he’s going to join that shit… People constantly comment on this piece of work… The saw blade is as tall as me…
This is my work station, where all the beverages and desserts are… As you can see we have a lot of coffee in the morning… We have a big coffee maker for back up on really busy mornings and then another small machine, which we use all of the time… The coffee goes quickly here, so you don’t want to get behind on your coffee making… There are times when I have three pots made with the backup machine full and still it’s hard to keep up with…
There’s the omelets station, which is on the other side of the #Waiter’sStation… These guys run a pretty tight ship when it comes to a clean restaurant, as you can see… We clean for a good hour to an hour and a half after work, every night…
And theres the right and left side of the restaurant.. The Nugget Cafe seats about 70 people and we have had it packed to capacity many times… You can’t see them but they have a chandelier which is made out of #BuckAntlers… I actually saw a documentary about the person who makes these interesting designs… He even has a Christmas tree which is made of antlers, if you want to welcome in the holiday season with death… lol! There’s nothing like dead deer head dressings to really get you into the #Christmas spirit… WTF! Explain that to your little kids while you tell the story of Santa Clause and his nine reindeer…
This is my view from the back of the restaurant! I can see Matchless everyday and just need to peek my head around the corner to see #ParkConeMountain… With this view, how could you ever feel like you’re at work? I never realized what a gorgeous view can do to your #spirit and attitude… Even on my worst days, I find myself calmed down by such sights…
And here’s our clean ass kitchen! Dave is the #chef this morning… He’s the gentleman with his back to us… I don’t like to post too many pictures of everyone assuming they probably don’t want their image posted… Dave is a very high energy individual… He makes great food and has an infectious laugh… His laugh is so loud, I can hear him on my days off, from across the parking lot… I tell everyone I am going to miss that laugh when I leave… It’s become apart of my morning… When I can’t hear Dave laughing in the morning, I get concerned because I know something is wrong…
The kid with the hat on, washing dishes, is Griffin… He and Dave are two of the three that have been here all season… They started from the beginning and are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, finally… These guys have gone through a terrible year, picking up the slack for all of the others who flaked on them… I commend them on their loyalty, especially Griffin… He is only 20 years old and he stuck it through to the end… I admire such a young man with determination and loyalty… Chris said he is going to invite him back next year to be a server… He deserves it! Griffin is one of those young guys who I like a lot and for good reason… All my spare time I spend with him and his friend Michael… Two amazing guys!
Here’s a beautiful #sunset I got to experience at the end of my shift… Absolutely gorgeous! Pretty soon I will be camping up on the silhouette the sun is creating! I can’t wait to be seeing this restaurant from on top of that flat #peak!
After work, I headed over to Griffin and Michael’s #cabin… We hang most every night now… Michael and I really connected when I climbed Park Cone… He went ahead and climbed it two days later, so comparing stories was really fun…
We of course take part in some legal fun, if you catch my drift… I find I like the youth these days… They seem to be less #prejudice and more #liberal… I like the direction our youth is going in… They must be teaching some really good stuff in school these days because I had some of the best conservations with these guys… They definitely know their shit!
I blame Obama! Good night!
