So we got out of dodge, drove an hour and a half and then stayed in #Pahrump,Nevada… I had to wait until the evening yesterday to leave #DeathValley because the #heat was so intense… I could also get up at 6am, but anyone who knows #TheTravelingMac knows that ain’t happening…. LOL!
So we ate breakfast at #Mom’sDinerPahrump and hit the road…
It was just an 18 hour road trip, give or take a few… We figured we would do the bulk of the driving over two days, get close and head up the #mountains on the third day…
Chris, our boss up in #TaylorPark, wanted us to get there quickly… He was short staffed and it was getting really busy…
It was time to head back to the #FourWheeling haven… But this time I get to experience it with a new friend and #TheMillenniumFalcon…
If any of you have been following this #blog from the beginning… You will remember #TheMillenniumFalcon’s engine blowing in #Kansas last year… And it was when I was heading up to work this job at #TheColoradoDreamRanch for the summer…
The Traveling Mac had to leave #OldMillie with a farmer in Kansas, while he stayed in a rent free #cabin, working his tail off to hopefully pay some of the new debt he acquired on his reckless #travels…
I remember being so distraught at that time… I remember the #spiritual walk I took… I had no clue what I was going to do… I was stranded in the middle of farm country in Kansas… My #RV was thankfully safe and positioned to be worked on in the near future but The Traveling Mac had nowhere to go and nowhere to live…
But during that walk, along the farms, to think it out, I called Chris and asked him if he had any housing… He was more than willing because he needed help so badly… So I rented a car and worked up in the mountains for 2 months… It was such a trivial time in my life and now I look back and laugh at it all…
The Millennium Falcon and The Traveling Mac are back together… And just a year later, they are hitting the road to get what they couldn’t get accomplished the year before… #TheColoradoMountains will finally be conquered!!!
We stayed in a #WalmartParkingLot in #Washington,Utah… It was quiet and safe…
I got a quick haircut and we went bowling… We wanted to have some fun together considering we were going straight from one job to the other… It kind of sucked having to travel separately also…
I know, I know… I get the question all of the time… Why don’t you tow the car behind the Millennium Falcon? Well, considering I just put a new engine in her less than a year ago, I’m not taking any chances…
Tracey and I amused ourselves, passing each other and waving… Oh, new couples… Don’t they make you sick?
You have to have the side view mirror shot of Tracey coming up to pass me… I know, enough already… lol!
oops… Just one more time…
We ended up in #Beaver,Utah for the night… We just pulled into a #RestStop, which was right off of the road…
Not really knowing where we were and what surrounded us… I love doing this… Makes the #mornings so exciting to see where you ended up the night before…
Well, well… Beaver, #Utah definitely had something to show us…
Our morning started with this! Oh my…
Folks, I can’t explain the feeling you get when you have woken up, out of an 8 hour coma… Put your coffee on the burner, curious to see what is outside but yet still waking up… Then you open the door, coffee in hand and step out into this!
The fresh morning/afternoon air hits you, as the sun bears down on you, warming you up as it welcomes you into its luxurious environment… It’s like a huge overload of loveliness in the morning… I don’t think there is a better way to drink your coffee in the morning, trying to shake the cobwebs free…
I wouldn’t mind buying some land out here… Imagine having a patio with this as your backyard? I mean, breathtaking…
It’s almost like I took a year detour after the Millennium Falcon broke down in June of last year and I have finally found the road back to my ultimate destination… Where ever that is…
It’s like the #Universe decided I needed to go to #DeathValley and guided me there through pleasure and pain, just so I could pick up Tracey and continue from where I originally started…
And let me tell you, life is better with another traveler… Tracey is very organized and practical… Which is a field I am not such an expert in… I mean, I’m clean and organized yet I hate planning out trips on the #iPhone or the computer…
Well, Tracey loves to do this, so she is slowly taking on the #co-pilot role… The #PrincessLeia of sorts… I’m glad she doesn’t look like #Chewbacca… lol!
I think this would be a perfect place for my porch! Yep! I could write some amazing shit out here!
I don’t know what else you need folks… If this doesn’t inspire you to be #creative, then I don’t know what will…
The last thing I think of is wealth and capital gain out here… That type of thinking just doesn’t fit in… You’ve missed the whole point if that’s where your mind goes out here…
This was a funny pano shot that seemed to shorten Tracey’s nose… I just couldn’t resist posting this gorgeous shot… Sorry Tracey!
I think Utah is overlooked when it comes to its beauty… The whole #politics and #religion of the state kind of over powers what this beautiful area is really about…
You say Utah to me… I automatically think of #Mormons and #Prohibition… When I should be thinking of these glorious #mountains and vast, gorgeous #DryLand…
I was so inspired by everything, I had to leave our names on a rock, to mark the moment… The first major road trip with a girl I picked up in the desert to go work a job in the mountains… Love happens quickly under such circumstances…
If you told me this is where I would be two years ago… I would have laughed in your face…
But that’s the glory of living in a #FreeCountry… You can leave it all behind and reinvent yourself, if you like…
I’m not saying its easy and all fun… Actually it’s very scary not knowing where you are living the next day… not knowing if you are going to have house or engine problems, which will change your whole life in one instance… Not knowing if a job is lucrative or workable…
But that’s the cost of #freedom folks… Freedom comes with many costs and a lot more costs than the alternative…
So it’s very scary and if you give into that fear in the beginning, you probably won’t make it very far…
It’s a growing experience that sounds easy and fun in theory yet when you actually go through the motions, you are clouded with doubt, loneliness and restlessness… It’s almost like you and #nature are trying to shed the old skin of conformity, replacing it with adventure and a heightened awareness… Something that is painful to go through yet a very necessary tool to navigate your new found #freedom…
But when you stick to it and work through those feelings you realize something… Something that doesn’t occur to the ones who only dream of doing such…
You realize all of these crazy, mixed feelings is yourself breaking away from what you were taught was comfortable… What you were taught was the right and correct way of doing things… Most artists who go out there to chase their dreams are familiar with these feelings… the man who breaks from the popular way of thinking and decides to go his own way, knows these feelings…
Folks, these mixed, seesawing, crazy bunch of feelings is what freedom feels like! It feels different to every individual yet all of the feelings I am talking about and more, go through every persons’ head who embarks on such a #UnpredictableJourney…
(We ate at #TheHorsefly in #Montrose,Colorado above… We were just hours from Taylor Park and decided to stay in a #Walmart in #Gunnison,Colorado… The closest town to Taylor Park…)
And once you have been on the #road for awhile, you become addicted to these feelings… Why? Because these are the feelings we had when we were young… That feeling of freedom to do what ever we wanted…
Freedom comes with many costs but once you get used to paying the tolls, you get addicted to the payment because without all of these nutty feelings, freedom wouldn’t be worth it… For freedom without adventure and fear, is not freedom… It’s settling down into #conformity, just so you can feel and appear safe when you really are not…
Well, to my surprise, my #bovine friends where out blocking the road, digging into that new vegetation that has grown along the street…
I would have no other welcoming committee… What a perfect moment as we drive up the mountain to our new job… We are only about 40 minutes away now… It’s all up hill from here yet nothing the Millennium Falcon hasn’t seen or done in the past…
Yet this trip up the mountain with my #Cow friends coming out to welcome us, was like closure for me… I finally made it to The Colorado Dream Ranch with #TheFalcon… The trip which was planned a year ago has finally been executed…
The Traveling Mac is heading back to Taylor Park wiser, more experienced and more complete…
This new arrival of a different Mac is replacing the unsure, worried Mac that existed here only a year before…
Ready to take on new obstacles a little more secure and a little more fulfilled…
Talyor Park was no longer a mystery to me… It was no longer a destination I was curious and somewhat scared about…
It no longer represented a place to hunker down and make money not knowing what my future was bringing… For as much fun as I had here last summer, the lingering fear of my future with The Millennium Falcon was an added stress, strapped around me, weighing me down with worry and fear…
Not that I would change anything from the past because through that time, I climbed mountains and tackled that fear with #adventure and #SpiritualGrowth… The mountains were here, to remind me of my journey and its struggles… #ParkConeMountain and #MatchlessMountain hovered over us, like some sort of natures’ Mom and Dad, looking over me, knowing every little spiritual detail that led me back here…
We soon parked in our new #RVSpot… Which was free by the way… The family is so cool up here, they even gave us free propane… And they even give us quarters to do laundry for free, which are painted red so they can reuse them over and over again…
I couldn’t help but feel this triumphant attitude from the Millennium Falcon… She knew she had conquered yet another near impossible adventure which took us almost a year to complete…
The mountains welcomed her with a beautiful #sunset, as the gorgeous lights danced around her, celebrating her arrival… finally…
For this movie couldn’t have ended better, as nature scripted the end of the day with a beautiful sunset, as we admired the mighty mountains in the distance… The completion of one year long journey and the start of a new one, with all the tools I need to be successful with me… And a new, important traveling partner added to the arsenal…
We will never be defeated!!!!
