Well, here we are folks!! At #DisneyLand,California…
And these ducks were one of the first things you see when you enter the park… So cute…
After 2 years on the road, #TheTravelingMac was finally going to Alaska… And all of that time I lived in #LosAngeles, I never visited Disney Land… I really had no reason to…
But considering #Disney bought out #StarWars and exceeded my expectations with #TheForceAwakens, I figured this would be a great start to our #Alaska #Journey…
Nothing like the magic of Disney to get all of that work and labor out of your head…
This was #SpaceMountain which they not so smoothly converted into a Star Wars ride…
It sucked folks… Shame on you Disney for recycling a ride and actually thinking your are going to pull that fast one on avid Star Wars fans… Shame on you!!! Not a good start!
Of course there was one exciting moment which they captured on camera… I think the anticipation was more of a factor channeling my excitement in this picture… They should have taken a picture of me at the end of the ride… then they would have really captured my true feelings…
Tracey posted this picture on FaceBook and a friend we had just recently worked with said this picture says so much about our relationship… lol… Tracey is holding on for dear life as I enjoy the ride… lol… Oh, I love how we work in this relationship… Even if she’s not enjoying it, I’m having a blast!
I know, I know…. Disney makes a pretzel in the shape of #MickeyMouse and we are all taking pictures… Commercial Branding at its cheapest and best…It seems obnoxious from an outsiders point of view yet when you are here, it seems perfectly o.k… I guess its part of the Disney brainwashing… I mean… #magic….
I could bore you with tons of pictures I took at Disney but we have all seen it before… It was fun and the #StarWarsSimulator ride was awesome!!! Worth the whole trip! Also, I really enjoyed going on the classic rides… I didn’t realize until now but these old animated films are works of art… And the rides really brought back memories from my childhood…
Tracey and I enjoyed some nice tropical drinks at a Disney restaurant… Then we headed back to #TheMillenniumFalcon and prepared for our departure in the morning…
So, we left L.A first thing… A nice picture of #TheHollywood sign above…
And we were on the road… First we had to make it over to the coast so we could start this memorable drive…
We had to pull over right at the beginning because we took this scenic route to get over to route 1, which takes you up the cost through #Malibu… It was so hilly and windy, I had to pull The Millennium Falcon over… Remember, I just got the brakes done on her… I’m using the transmission like the mechanic said but this ride was so vigorous, I could smell the brakes burning outside… Better safe than sorry…
Here’s route 1 and the start of our coastal trip… Malibu and #BelAir are right behind us…
I had to pull over and show Tracey the first restaurant I ever worked at in #California…
It’s in Malibu and used to be called #Allegria… Sounds like a medication, no wonder they went out of business… lol… Actually, there was a big fire and the owner never recovered from it… so he sold the place…
It was a gorgeous day… I suggested pulling over, going to the beach and staying the night… Why not, we are on #vacation… Tracey didn’t think it was such a good idea… So, we didn’t…
But let me tell you, we wish we had… Now, The Traveling Mac was all for it but The Traveling Mac and The Millennium Falcon have a lot of experience on the road… And one of the first golden rules is to take the opportunity while it is there because it may not be there in the future… Not Tracey’s fault by any means… It’s just a mistake all of us amateur #travelers make…
I texted an old friend, Boris, from Los Angeles… He worked with me at #PaneEVino… He is one of my most valued friends from #L.A… An awesome human being…
He now lives in #SantaBarbara… So we killed two birds with one stone and checked out #SternsWharf… This is actually where I spent my first Fourth of July in Los Angeles… A friend from NY visited me and we met up with an old friend here… Probably the best Fourth I have experienced considering I was sat on the #Wharf at a wine bar eating cheese and sipping wine with fire works directly above me…
We met up with Boris and he surprised me by taking us to #PaneEVino! They opened one in Santa Barbara! The one in L.A. went out of business a while ago… I had no idea and was thrilled to eat the old dishes I remember selling back in the day… What an awesome surprise! I love Boris!
This was an awesome first day of the trip! I am so excited!!! #TheFinalFrontier, here we come!!! Life is good, folks!
