How can you not be happy waking up to this above? I mean really…
It was a gorgeous morning… A nice breeze blowing, sun shining… We did expect rain today, so we were happy to wake up to this…
Tracey and I prepared to drive all day… We had a nice drive up the coast to enjoy, as we try to make our way into Oregon…
My favorite part of the day is the mornings folks… That’s when I determine if a day is going to be crappy or be amazing… It’s a ritual for me…
It’s moments like these that make me so glad I got the hell out of dodge and hit the road to figure shit out! I never feel more free than when I wake up in the morning to a completely different backyard from the day prior…
It’s invigorating folks! It blows #TheTravelingMac’s mind that you can just hop out of bed, grab a coffee and wake up in a location you have never even seen in the daylight yet… I find myself tearing up some mornings knowing that no matter what the Universe throws at me today, I woke up to this glory… And no mistake, unfortunate event or tragedy can take that away from me…
Then I will go back into my traveling home, shit, shower and maybe shave… lol! Convenience at its best, folks!
That single memory has been achieved folks and now I also have a blog to go to and relive those memories if I choose… I picture myself at 80, on a couch with my grandson on my lap, showing him all of grandpa’s amazing adventures when he was young…
You can have all the houses, money, cars and luxuries in the world but none of them stack up to a mind full of memories over a lifetime… That’s what you hold onto as you slip alone into another existence… Your life flashes before your eyes and I believe time no longer exists at that moment… I believe the second between life and death, you go through your whole life again… Hell, who knows, maybe I am not really living now… Maybe in reality I am on my death bed and this is the memory I am going the long second before I meet my demise…
Either way you meet your end eventually… So, go out and live folks! If your life is about making money and paying bills with no enjoyment what so ever, then what kind of a life are you living? You will never catch up on everything because right when you are paid up on everything, there will be something else you feel you need… And the reason you will invent something else to work for is because you don’t know what to do with yourself anymore… You have been working so much for so long, you don’t even know how to live anymore… It’s a perfect scenerio for the corporations until they can replace you with robots… but for a human, it’s just plain boring…
There’s a huge, massive world out there folks! Go out and enjoy it! Your dreams, wishes and all you could ever think of lies out there… Waiting for you!
I understand people have families but try to take steps in the right direction… Instead of getting that addition on your house that you don’t need, go travel with your family… Instead of cleaning the house all day, go out and take a hike… It will be hard leaving all of your responsibilities behind but it won’t be hard to tackle those responsibilities when your mind is free and relaxed from a nice hike out in nature… Baby steps folks… #TheMillenniumFalocn didn’t’ happen over night… She was a thought that took two years to implement…
So Tracey and I had a very twisty, turny yet fulfilling journey up the #NorthernCaliforniaCoast… It rained on and off, here and there…
We stopped at #Nick’sCove in #Marshall,CA for a bite to eat… This restaurant was literally in the middle of nowhere, up along the coast we were driving… I was expecting a basic fish & chips shop but this place was a lot more…
What a view!!! I love the little bundles of trees sitting on little Islands surrounded by blue water and green grass… God, nature is our most talented artist… I love when human art complements nature’s art and that is definitely happening out here…
We were heading up the coast and the next major area we wanted to explore was #TheRedWoodsNationalForest…
They say the drive up the #PacificCoastHighway is one of the most beautiful drives you will ever take… But it is also very unpredictable, especially considering we are just getting winter over with…
We hadn’t hit any obstacles yet but were expecting road closures, mudslides and all kinds of obstacles along the way…. perhaps even a snow storm… Especially in Canada and Alaska…
That’s why we are watching our time so closely… That’s our only true enemy on this #trip… We have no idea what lies ahead so when we take a day off to #explore or do something fun, we are taking a huge risk of losing that time to some unforeseen trouble in the future… I have tried to implement a plan where we drive 4 hours a day… And when we don’t achieve our daily drive, it gets added to the next day…
We plan to spend some days just driving considering we will be going through some really remote areas in Canada and Alaska… So, we are trying to be a little more liberal with time at the beginning of the trip, scared that we will miss something and have nothing to do later in the trip…
So, even though we are very cautious we also want to enjoy this trip… That’s why Tracey and I regretted skipping over #Malibu on a gorgeous sunny day… We won’t get that spontaneous day back… That’s a memory lost… And that memory is way more important to us than any capital gain…
Yet we may need that day in the near future… Who knows… We have given ourselves a month to get to Alaska, which is a good amount of time… We have money and a working vehicle…
And most important of all, we have each other… Anything goes wrong, at least I’m not in it alone… Hell, I have a ton of camping equipment stored in #TheFalcon… We could camp and live off of the land if need be… lol…
The food was amazing here! It was very fancy… Tracey and I just sat at the bar…
I learned that there were small towns around this area… It was a little of a commute to get to this restaurant but I can see why guests would drive out of their way… The view and the food was exceptional…
I had an amazing craft cocktail… they had their own homemade MoscowMules where they made their own ginger syrup… Amazing and the #ClamChowder was spot on! This restaurant would do really well on the East Coast…
And what a place to spend a sunny day… It had a bit of a snobby feel and the guests seemed a little stuffy but it was an awesome experience…
It reminded me of a small town on the Cape in Massachusetts… I love these old anchors and boats… Such a #SeaTown atmosphere… A very special place I wouldn’t mind spending a #vacation…
So, we were back on the road… We planned to drive all the way into the night, hopefully getting close to #TheRedwood National Forest…
The sunset was so peaceful and almost nonexistent as it rained here and there…
I love driving up the country side… Everything looks so happy and at ease out here… Everyone getting a nice fresh bite to eat on a wet day… Things tend to move slower on a rainy day…
Your bones tend to creek a little more… You want to stay inside and hibernate… yet you hardly ever regret a nice drive through the rain as the day comes to an end…
It’s like the world is cleansing us from our problems in the past… It’s like a fresh start… Everything is clean and washed away… Everyone looks fresh and new as the man made street lights reflect off of the water on the roads… Making everything look newer and not as weathered…
We stocked up at a Safeway in #Willits,CA… Then we drove over to the #MossCoveRestArea… which was along the path on route 101… It was too dark once again to see where we were staying… But we did go to bed with the sound of a mighty creek running near us… Can’t wait to have a coffee while exploring my new, temporary property… It’s going to be a good sleep tonight!
Life is special folks…
