We woke up at the #FrancisBMathewsRestArea… Say that three times fast… We dumped and then refilled the 40 gallon water tank… Tracey had to hold the water button down…
What a great #RestArea… It had all of the amenities, it was really quiet and it even had some small hiking trails…
This is #FrancisBMathews above… I guess he was a big community organizer and developer from this area… He was also an avid bird watcher… So when he died his friend built and named this rest area after him…
I have to mention that #California is a great place to travel in a #RV… There are #FreeRestAreas everywhere and they are all pretty damn nice…
Most of them have #Drive-thruDumps… Yeah, that’s right folks, there are drive-thru dumps… You can see one above… They usually have three to four lanes… So numerous RVs can dump and refill their water at the same time…
I’m sure there is a lot of traffic coming through here during the peak season… Luckily we are traveling way before any of that starts…
And what a way to commemorate someone! I would love for someone to name a beautiful rest area after me… One that allows #RVers to get their needs plus more…
Who knows, maybe someday there will be a #TravelingMac Rest Area…
I would like my rest area to give #TravelingTips and also #RVTips… Common questions the common RVer has while traveling…
Because I think this is our future folks… With the new #GoogleCar coming, which drives itself, things are drastically changing in our world…
Just think about a car that drives itself and then go bigger! With self driving cars, who needs cars at all? And with vehicles that can move themselves, why would you want to buy a house that is immobile?
Because if you think way outside of the box, the possibility of a section of your house breaking off and going somewhere else could happen in the future… Imagine your kids getting up for school… Getting ready, showering and then stepping outside to be right in front of their school… While he/she was getting ready his room was programmed to break off and get him to school at a certain time…
And then what if there is a huge storm coming and you have only days to react… Well, what if you could program your house to be in Florida by a certain date… And that house determines the best, fastest route to get you to Florida by that time… All while you are just going through your daily routine…
#TheTraveling Mac and #TheMillenniumFalcon are actually way ahead of their time… While people scoff at a 42 year old man living in a RV and not having a permanent home, actually we are way ahead of all of you… We are preparing ourselves for the mobile future, folks! It’s coming and we will be way ahead of the game…
And who do you think all of the novices starting their traveling dreams is going to go to for advice? Obviously the people who are experienced with this type of living… So maybe I am securing myself a future job… Who knows…
All I know is I am having a blast preparing for this unpredictable future… I see no reason in building a stationary house when the future will not require such… I know it sounds a little far fetched but I think living in one spot in these advanced times is just plain primitive… I don’t knock it but with the uncertain future, I will observe from the road and make the necessary adjustments when I need to… I think that’s a more responsible, practical way of preparing…
We stopped for a lunch at this beautiful rest area… What a view!
It feels very romantic, pulling off to the side of the road with a phenomenal view, eating lunch… Tracey and I decide we are hungry, then she looks for a #PullOff or rest area where we can enjoy a peaceful meal…
The weather was very gloomy today… It was disappointing because we were approaching the #RedWoodsNationalForest… We really wanted to take a nice long hike through these enormous #forests…
But it’s #RainySeason in the #Spring in the North West… There’s a reason they call #Seattle,WA the Rainy City…
Then we stumbled upon our first #Elk sighting of the trip! I didn’t realize there were so many Elk in #NorthernCalifornia… They even have Elk farms up here…
I have recently learned that the reason animals come to the side of the road to graze is because all the fresh vegetation grows there…
I guess it cuts back on the costs of mowing but that’s why we also have a lot of animals getting hit by the side of the road…
I almost think they should put some sort of a deterrent on this grass so they won’t graze there… It makes it a hell of a lot safer for them and the drivers on the road…
From start to finish, this drive was enthralling… It twisted and turned between deep, thick green woods to open #Oceanic areas like this one, above…
We drove by a lot of gorgeous #beaches… This beach we just couldn’t resist taking a walk on…
Look at that entrance above… Wow! The weather was slightly chilly with a warm, wet breeze occupying the air…
We were out in the middle of nowhere with not a soul in sight…
After being inspired all day with all of these gorgeous sights, my #CreativeEnergy was ready to explode… I automatically leaned back and spread my arms, enjoying the vast freeness of it all as the breeze flapped the corners of my open jacket, making me feel like a patriotic flag….
The Millennium Falcon looked so peaceful after a long hard day of #driving… It’s moments like these when I find myself really appreciating her, knowing this feeling was not possible without her help…
God, I would love a little shack on this beach… Nothing massive… Just a little one bed room shack…. No! Better yet, I want septic, electric and water… Screw the shack, I will just live in The Millennium Falcon out here… A house would ruin the freedom of it all!
Tracey took some pictures of me being foolish… I found this great walking stick on my way down to the water..
I was contemplating keeping it for Tracey and making her a walking stick…
But then this urge hit me to just drill it into the ground…
Crack kills folks…
I got her nice and deep, down into the dark sand…
She just looked so beautiful there, I didn’t want her anymore…
Like my footprints, this stick will be proof the Traveling Mac visited but will soon be washed away… Some things are meant to be kept, some are just happy where they are…
We hit the road again… Tracey found this great little area where the #WildElk gather to sleep…
So we rushed here before it got too dark to see…
We were actually planning to camp here but it wasn’t allowed…
And for good reason… This was the #ElkHerd’s home… I have never seen so many #Elk in one spot.. Wow!
The signs warned not to approach any of the Elk but The Traveling Mac wanted at least one close picture…
I didn’t venture onto their territory but did get close enough for a couple to notice… They didn’t pay me much mind…
After an amazing #traveling day, we headed over to a pull off that was right on the #ocean in #CrescentCity,CA… The only problem was, it was very windy out, so we were shifting and swaying all night… We got a little sea sick, needless to say… lol…
We ate frozen pizza and watched “HacksawRidge” which was a bunch of over glorified war crap! I don’t care if its based on a true story! What a load of Gibson crap! I wish he would go back to his “Brave Heart” days…
It wasn’t a good night for sleeping but the commotion definitely kept me curious… I wondered, as I laid there sleepless, what wreckage I will see in my backyard in the morning…
