Well folks, its going to be hard to match yesterday’s #inspirational #travels… This #RestStop we woke up to was a good start…
It was raining out this morning but the sky soon started to clear…
We had parked on a peninsula that veered into a large #lake…
And boy was this location gorgeous!
You are just engulfed in beauty out here…From every direction…
The weather didn’t know if it wanted to rain, freeze, snow or shine the mighty sun…
It’s so unpredictable up here… There are so many things going on with the #ChangingOfTheSeasons….
When you think about it, these extreme weather locations have to go from the most extreme cold back up to spring and summer weather… So, it creates some really erratic weather and you can really feel those changes in the air, through out the day…
If you were wondering where we are in the #Yukon… There’s a map above…
This rest area had all kinds of information on the #animals that live in the area…
It was a nice added touch to the trip, way out in the middle of nowhere…
The feeling out here is so fresh and new… Everything feels so pristine and perfect…
There’s this definite chill that is competing with the sun and you feel like you are stuck in the middle of the battle…
There are times when it feels so warm, you can take your jacket off… Only to put it back on five minutes later when the sun retreats behind a cloud and it wants to get cold again…
But the views and smells this creates is remarkable… Remember we are seeing these locations in their original form… With hardly any human touch soiling it…
I want to come back up here and just #explore for a few months…
That’s something I definitely plan on doing in the future…
I just feel so at home out here… So at peace with myself and the world…
I mean, look at me… I’m in a t-shirt with ice and snow all around me… And trust me, I’m not cold at all!
I remember just looking at #TheMillenniumFalcon and thinking… Look at what I have done in the past two years!
I’m in the middle of the Yukon in a moving house with the woman I love… To think only two years ago I was stuck in L.A. and completely miserable…
Hell, I was suicidal! No lie! I had such a bleak out look on life, I didn’t want to live it anymore…
Thank god I had the sense to change it! And if anyone out there wants to take their own life… Don’t! Just change your life! It may be painful and extremely hard to do at first but I guarantee you, you will be thanking yourself for choosing the more difficult path…
Life is too precious folks and it took me two years of #traveling to rediscover it…
Not that I don’t have my bad days but in general, I’m a much happier person… It’s hard to take a step back and face all of your problems when a society teaches you to just suck it up and go to work… everyone is special folks… Everyone has some meaning in life… And everyone has the right to look at themselves and try to fix what is not what they feel is right in their life… It’s not selfish… It’s not admitting you are weak because you have some problems in life… We all have problems to address…. The only difference is the ones who address those problems and the ones who ignore them…
I tried to get a picture of this swan in #MooseLake above, but she was too far away… That little dot in the middle is a swan… lol…
So, #TheTravelingMac, #TheFalcon and Tracey were close to the #Canadian/AlaskanBorder by now… We decided to treat ourselves to a #RVPark and enjoy a night of endless showering and the convenience of limitless electricity!
This was a neat little church that welcomed you into town…
We filled up with gas, dumped, filled our water tank and parked….
And this was the perfect place to have a campfire dinner!
So I pulled out the old camping cooking equipment and went to town… I think this was actually my first time cooking Tracey a dinner on the #campfire… So, it was crucial that I did it perfectly so I can impress…
And I proved my campfire cooking skills reinforcing my caveman like abilities…
Look at that meal above… You could serve this in a restaurant and I cooked it on a crude campfire…
And boy was it delicious! It felt so great pounding my chest and displaying my survival skills…
It’s instinctual to prove your worth as a man who can feed, clothe and support a family…
The #BeaverCreekRVPark was really nice… It was so refreshing to just relax and discuss our #travels with nothing to do for the night…
The Millennium Falcon was still in good condition… She has some minor fixes I have to address when we finally get to #Alaska… But overall, she has performed amazingly for a 21 year old vehicle…
It felt so empty at the #RVPark… People were just starting to roll in, getting ready for a #spring and #summer full of adventures… I’m sure this place will be swamped in a month… And I wonder if all of these are travelers trying to get to a summer job like ourselves…
I always let my campfire tools burn off their residual before I clean them… I tuck these tools under The Millennium Falcon considering they are dirty and for campfire use only… If I brought them inside, black soot would get everywhere…
Lucky I got that dinner cooked when I did because it started to rain again and it rained on and off throughout the night…
Tomorrow we cross the border into Alaska… Then we will be just 100’s of miles from our final destination… We have a job folks yet we don’t have a place to live yet… But that’s another adventure to talk about in the near future…
